Deepening the Writing

inset_11702456_collage_oA guided meditation is one that you are "guided into" by either talking to yourself or having someone speak words that will bring you inward. There, in your imagination, you can find a place of peace and contemplation.

You may also experience a feeling of relaxation, which will help you to put aside negative or distracting thoughts and focus on a positive thought. In this place, a "writing prompt" might come to you that you can use as inspiration for writing after the meditation.

A writing prompt is a trigger, a word, a phrase, or a sentence that gets your writing going, perhaps in a direction that you wouldn't have otherwise gone without the prompt.

The Guided Meditation Writing Prompts below build from the exercises in The Thriver Workbook: Journey from Victim to Survivor to Thriver! To use them, start by relaxing yourself, perhaps with some quiet, calming music, and then, when you complete the meditation, write from the prompt in a deeper, more profound way.

For a great guided meditation, check out "The Thriver in Me Honors the Thriver in You," on The Thriver Workbook Companion CD. For more writing prompts, you can go to the Thriver Zone blog (coming soon).
